But the Dalai Lama's message needs a big public jolt of support in these challenging times and a global wave of respect will show the Chinese government that the eyes of the world are on Tibet. Avaaz is organising a global tribute that will be delivered personally to the Dalai Lama. The spiritual leader of Tibet has spent over 50 years in exile, China is ignoring him, dialogue for an genuinely autonomous Tibet is in stalemate and violent repression continues in his homeland. But the Dalai Lama continues to preach peace and compassion and he represents the best hope for a just and peaceful outcome in Tibet. Since the 2008 bloody crackdown on Tibetans, the Avaaz community has been supporting radio stations, bloggers, and censorship avoidance technologies to ensure information comes in and out of closed Tibet. We will work with these partners to ensure this massive tribute and our birthday messages of hope, gratitude and encouragement from around the world reach hundreds of thousands of Tibetans and Chinese.

Dalai Lama é recebido pelo Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nooossaa geentÊÊÊ!!!!!!!!!!

Seja para parecer o bacanão para os ativistas, pacifistas e outros istas, seja pelo que "sejar", Obama mostra a China que não tem medo do ditador chinês, mesmo que esta atitude (seja por qual motivação, eu adorei!) pode prejudicar ainda mais as relações Washington-Pequim, já abaladas por questões de câmbio, direitos humanos, censura na Internet e venda de armas a Taiwan. E também não terá apoio desta contra os países que está atacando.

Fico feliz quando o meu querido Dalai é recebido como líder religioso, não no salão oval como líder político do Tibet, nem com aparição pública, como eu queria, e nosso humilde mestre não liga para estas asneiras. Mas Obama acidentalmente o colocou num lugar onde suas boas vibrações podem fazer uma grande diferença na terra.

O porta voz do ditador já anunciou que critica a atitude de Obama. Queremos ver agora se eles vão conseguir montar outra farsa como a dos jogos olímpicos em que contratarão ocidentais para se passar por americanos depredando a china! Time will tell! O Obama deve estar triste...
